RBG is delighted to announce its inaugural Biodiversity Week photography competition for students of St Patrick’s N.S, Diswellstown; Scoil Choilm; St Mochta’s N.S.; Castleknock Community College and Luttrellstown Community College. Our competition is open to all students in the above schools and the challenge is to capture some of the biodiversity in Riverwood Estate. The photos should be of wildflowers and wildlife in Riverwood Estate. See this guide.
All photos must be submitted by email to riverwoodbiodiversitygrp@gmail.com by 16 May 2025.
See Competition Guide and Terms and Conditions here.

Riverwood Estate is in the Carpenterstown area of Dublin 15. The estate was built in the late 1990s and has a lovely mix of well established older families, young families and newcomers to the area.

We are a group of Riverwood residents interested in nature and doing our bit to help wildlife in our area.  We use evidence –based approaches to develop our conservation projects.  We are still a relatively new group in 2024 and have just received our first round of funding from Fingal Community Development Office.

We are registered with Fingal Public Participation Network and apply for funding through the Fingal Community Development Fund.

Our projects so far include:

  • Wildlife Gardening Exhibition Area
  • Mini Woodland
  • Pollinator Patch
  • Wildlife Gardening Workshops
  • Bat Walks and Talks
  • Mapping local pollinator areas on the All Ireland Pollinator Plan website

We will be engaging in Citizen Science surveys and submitting our data to the National Biodiversity Data Centre.  Surveys of wildflowers, hedgehogs, bats, birds and insects all help us to understand what we have and what we need to do to encourage our native wildlife.

We would love to invite you to come along and see what we do and see what you can do.  Contact us to be added to our contact list for upcoming events.

If you have any questions you can email us at: riverwoodbiodiversitygrp@gmail.com
